Cravings and Emotions

Friends have asked me about cravings, emotions, etc and all things that come with being pregnant, so here goes in a nutshell:) I will for sure touch on other things later, too!
Food/Bev:
One of my most favorite things to ask my pregnant friends is what foods are they craving, be they normal or weird? With me, it doesn't seem to be a whole lot of cravings, but rather aversions. I can tell you a whole lot of things I DON'T want and very few that send me over the moon. For example, I have not eaten red meat in 4 months..I have no interest in it whatsoever, but thankfully the smell doesn't seem to bother me as I am around more than maybe I realized. I have not had a cup of coffee in 4 months..when I was getting the flu in October, I had zero interest in smelling/drinking coffee. That should have been my tell-all sign that I was pregnant, but two & two did not connect! I have loved salads more than ever..not such a bad craving to have I guess! I have also been loving some cookie crisp cereal, too.. every morning. My doc would not be proud of that fact and for myself, who really doesn't have a sweet tooth and eats pretty healthy, this is very strange. But tell me, when is the last time you ate cookie crisp cereal?!? It's the BOMB.

Emotions:
I am thankful, mainly for Matt's sake, that I have not really had any serious mood swings. He knows how I can be normally at times, so glad that has not escalated..I may end up a single mom if that happens, so I'll be keeping an eye on that:) Since getting into the second trimester, I feel AWESOME- there are seriously some points of the day that go by where I forget I am pregnant. I am so very very thankful for this health and hope our well-being continues!

I have also read that intense and wild dreams are usually part of pregnancy, but I have yet to really experience that. Although the other night, I woke up crying in the middle of the night. The humorous part is that the dream was about going to NYC for a girls weekend and I happened to buy my plane ticket off of Craigslist (go figure) and come to find out en route to the airport, it was FAKE! I seriously woke up with tears coming down my face. I got a real kick out of it! After a few days passed, Matt asked 'Have you woken up crying any more?' Glad that answer has been no, as that cannot be good for the bags under my eyes the next day, but at least we can get a laugh out of it!

  1. Leigh Ann, My bet is that you are having a girl. I have not been able to eat red meat with EITHER pregnancy and lived off of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Lucky Charms. :)Great blog.
