Mommy & Mollie Day!

Yesterday was a rare treat. The day was just for Mollie & me! I woke up to find a text message from Mollie's sitter that she had injured her back & needed the day off to rest. My mind began to race, as I realized I didn't have my work laptop with me, nor my day planner--so what was on my work agenda that I needed to take care of?

I let Molls take her AM nap (which was very short- she must have known it was a vacation day for her) and then we headed downtown to my office to grab my stuff. Mollie took it upon herself to get a little work done while she was at the office, too. She's a working girl already!
'Workin' 9-5'
We then ventured to Matt's office to say hello to them. They hadn't seen her since October probably! She was tired by that point with a nothing of a morning nap, so then we headed home. Of course on the way, she crashed out. When we got to the house I couldn't bring myself to wake her, so I just worked in the car on my laptop, while she slept in her car seat. Oh, the things moms will do to be efficient, given any situation.

The weather was outstanding, so really we spent a large part of it outside on the patio. Gotta love a laptop with WiFi & some outdoor play toys!!!

Trying out our new toy!
I always welcome the reminder to enjoy the little things..I can't tell you the last day I had, just me & Mollie. At first I was flustered with my day being rearranged & then a smile quickly came to my face. A day with my daughter that otherwise would not have happened for a while. Even weekends, Matt & I spend a ton of time playing with her, but I've also worked or volunteered for something almost every Saturday recently it feels like, so I haven't been around much. Then add in house cleaning, doing laundry and the list goes on.
That Tuesday with me home, the house cleaning could wait. The laundry could be done after she went to bed for the night. I wanted the day to be about me & Mollie for once--and a GREAT time we had!!

And the first word is...

DA-DA!! I knew she'd be a daddy's girl from day 1...now she's wrapped around Matt's finger even more! I love it!!!
On Saturday morning, I heard the first Da-da after she woke up & we were playing. I  couldn't wait to tell Matt, as he was in the shower & was soooo hoping she'd say it again on the spot--haha, yeah right.

My mom & dad (Mimi & Pops) graciously gave us a night solo as our Valentine's gift, so we took them up on it Saturday evening. Matt and I wisked away to Savannah for the night. Such fun!! The temps were in the 70's and we couldn't wait to be outside all day, walking around, eating and spending some QT with one another. (Although we missed little peanut a ton!)
We just had to be tourists & eat lunch at Lady & Sons!
Great sport--put up with my 'antiquing' and even carried my purchases!
M wasn't too far..a GIANT Sophie!!
Sunday morning we woke up & I called mom to check in on how Molls was during the night. She says that Mollie woke up about 4am & she needed to go put paci back in...but when mom walked in, Mollie made eye contact with her and M said 'Da-Da!' loud and clear!! Ahhhhh! It's here to stay:)

Fast forward to Sunday evening & I'm getting Mollie's bathtub ready, Matt is getting her undressed in her room. She was in a full-on babble run so I told Matt to get ready, Da-Da will come! Sure enough...not even a few minutes later, there it was. He had heard his daughter say 'Da-Da' for the first time!! Talk about melt your heart. He was smitten even more:) Then I'm feeding her just before bed & she stops, looks up at me, smiles and says Da-Da-Da-Da-Da. Melted my heart. The love of my life is talking about the other love of my life!!

Almost 7.5 months now, she is taking major learning leaps all the time! I swear her abilities have been in overdrive the past few weeks. As I sit here now, I'm astounded that my baby Mollie has said her first word. Ok, she might not exactly know who/what Da-Da is or means, but she very shortly will. This is just the beginning:)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I figured there's no better day to discuss love than on Valentine's Day! Not my favorite 'holiday' by any means, but I'll always welcome a day or moment to remember those whom I love and those who love me.

This website gave me some awesome thoughts & made me think about love lessons for Mollie. (Please check out the link)

As parents we truly are responsible for the actions and ways our children behave & respond to situations & feelings of love. I want Matt & I to be a shining example of love for Mollie. I want her to know that our house is full of love! Respect for each other, laughter and fun times, sharing things with each other, giving kisses and hugs and even helping each other out in various ways around the house or doing things.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day and remind the important people in your life that you love them...we all need to be told that from time to time! Everyone deserves someone to love them.

My Valentines--I love you two!!

Baby Currie!!

Catherine Currie Cooper has made her debut into this world!! My best friend Sadie had her first little girl yesterday, Thursday, February 10. All are happy & healthy! 6lbs, 6oz and 19 inches long (Ahem, Mollie's size exactly!!) She is soooo precious!

It was/is so hard being in SC and she being in Alabama. I often get the homesick bug, but really do when my best friend has a baby and I'm not there with her & to smooch that angel to pieces.

I saw her pic, emailed Matt and said 'Awww I want another one!' Not fully being serious, but it's crazy how foreign that newborn stage seems now that Molls is 7 months old. Matt, being the great sport he is, said 'Let's at least wait so they can be in different grades.' Ha, love you Matt:)

We head to Fairhope mid-March to meet the new addition to the Cooper's and the newest addition to the Well's, sweet baby Stella. My best friends in Alabama have each recently had girls & I cannot wait until they can all play together. Or can I?!
